Aggressive Investor Bullish-  "Quick Trade Stocks" -ideally suited for entry into top performing issues looking for a small quick profit."  (See Performance)

Conservative Investors  "Bargain Buy Trades for the Long Term."  Ideally suited for entry into top performing big cap stocks on pullbacks within overall up trend.(See Performance)

Bearish

Aggressive Bearish Investors - "Breakdown Stocks" to Sell Short. Ideally suited for bear markets or market pull backs. Potential for large returns  (See Performance)

The TTD report also contains stocks to short as  breakdown plays and as bargain (swing trade) shorts.

Investors should  tend to try to go with a strategy that fits with the stock market's trend, unless there is a special situation play.

TTD's Breakout Stocks - Long are most suitable for aggressive investors seeking ideal entry points into leading stocks, especially during bull markets. They can do extremely well in bull markets with gains of as much as several hundred percent.

These stocks can also do extremely well during strong market rallies, or if they are in a industry group that is performing very well. They tend to have strong earnings outlooks and are near new-52 week, or all-time highs.

TTD Quick Trade Stocks - Long These are leading issues that have pulled back in recent days, but could move higher soon. They are most suitable for Aggressive Investors willing to trade short term. These stocks will do extremely  well during market advances. They have about 74% win rate. During market rally sequences the win rate is even higher. The return is small 3% to 8% in just a few days.

TTD's Bargain Buy Trades - Long - Long Term.  These are for conservative bullish Investors These long-term buys are ideally suited for entry into stocks on pull backs within overall up trend. These stocks can give a good return long-term especially during a bull market.

TTD also presents Stocks To Sell or Sell Short. These issues are suitable for aggressive investors willing to take short positions both as trades or for longer-term plays. These stocks will do very well during bear markets or market pull backs.

TTD's Bearish breakdown stocks to sell short. These issues have potential to fall sharply. They often show a technical breakdown and also some fundamental business problem such as weak earnings.

TTD's multi-media updates include a slide-show that presents charts and analysis at midsession. Some times TTD presents feature analysis on stocks and the market. TTD uses Windows Media Files. (WMV).

TTD also presents a "Breakout Watch List" that is up dated daily. This list consists of key stocks in position to breakout. A close watch of this list can put you in the stock just as it breaks out. A good idea is to study the list and be ready to move into a stock quickly as it hits its breakpoint.

TTD often suggests using stop buy orders to enter. It is very important to buy a breakout stock as close as possible to the breakpoint. The idea is to get "elbow room" if the stock should follow through to the upside. This is very important in being successful in making big money with breakout stocks.

It is also essential to have a stop loss strategy for all stocks in which positions are taken. Not every stock will work as expected. It is important for investors to "police" their portfolios and avoid getting trapped in any bad positions.

Quality rating of breakout  Two key factors: 1 - Stock near all-time high in price or near a 52-week high. 2 - earnings growth current year is strong. The ideal play is a stock with an Above Average Quality Rating. The stock is near a new high and will have strong earnings. TTD's other ratings are Average and Below Average.

TTD highlighted EXTR as a breakout at our midsession video show on the Web.

So far today, EXTR is trading a heavy 4.5 million shares, triple its average daily volume of 1.4 million shares.

The stock drive higher was triggered by better than expected earnings.

EXTR came in with net for the fiscal second quarter ending in March of 10 cents a share. That topped the Street consensus estimate of 8 cents a share.

It was eighth straight quarter that EXTR has topped the Street consensus estimate. That is impressive.

EXTR's daily chart shows the stock trend steadily higher the past several months holding above the rising 50-day moving average line.

The stock reached a peak in late March and then pulled back and formed a cup-and-handle base.

The breakout Thursday is powerful coming with strong volume.

The stock's CCI momentum indicator (bottom of chart) is strongly bullish.

 Earnings Outlook

This fiscal year ending in June, analysts are forecasting a 74% surge in profits to 24 cents a share from 14 cents a year ago.

The stock sells with a price-earnings ratio of 35. TTD sees that as attractive to value-growth investors.

Net for the fiscal fourth quarter ending in June analysts look for a 33% increase in net to 9 cents a share from 7 cents the year before.

TTD’s Feature Bear Play

Unit Corp. (UNT) - 17.92, down 4.17

Profits Miss Badly, TTD Sees Fall to 14

UNT, based in Tulsa, Okla., is an oil and natural gas contract drilling company. Annual revenues: $602 million. UNT's stock falls sharply Thursday after the company misses badly with its quarterly earnings. TTD sees more on the downside.

Also, impacting stock was a sharp decline in oil prices.

TTD highlighted UNT as a short at our midsession video show on the Web Thursday.

So far today, UNT is trading a heavy 3.2 million shares, four times its average daily volume of 677,000 shares.

UNT reported net for the first quarter came in at 15 cents a share. That was an improvement over the loss of a year ago.

However, it was well below Street estimates of 24 cents a share.

The stock fell sharply at the opening an hit an intraday low of $17.35 in the morning.

It lifted slightly and then trended mostly sideways the rest of the day. In the final hour it tried to rally, but faded with selling kicking in again.

  Tape Action

UNT's tape action shows the recent block trades.

One can see the price for the blocks falling from $22.09 in the prior session to as low as $17.51 Thursday.

A key bearish trade came in the morning when a block of 16,240 shares crossed the tape at $20.91.

That was down sharply from the prior block trade at $22.09 on 6,954 shares.

  Business

UNT operates through: Oil and Natural Gas, Contract Drilling and Mid-Stream.

It is primarily engaged in the exploration, development, acquisition, and production of oil and natural gas properties.

Its oil and natural gas operations are carried out by its subsidiary Unit Petroleum Company.

Contract Drilling operations are carried out by its subsidiary Unit Drilling Company.

  Earnings:

UNT had topped the Street estimate the prior three quarters. So, the miss Thursday surprised the Street.

This year, analysts are forecasting a profit of $1.37 a share compared with a loss of 28 cents the year before. The estimate may hinge on the price of oil, which has been declining recently.

Going out to 2018, analysts look for a 47% jump in profits to $2 a share from the anticipated $1.37 this year.

For the upcoming second quarter, they look for a profit of 30 cents a share compared with a loss of 15 cents the year before.

Charts:

UNT's daily chart shows the stock peaking in early 2017 at $30.62. Since then it has been trending lower.

UNT's 12-month performance chart shows the stock up 50% versus a gain of 16% for the stock market. UNT performed very well last year. It is struggling this year.

Insiders have been getting lot of stock options. They have not done any buying or selling recently.

Strategy Opinion: TTD is targeting UNT for a decline to $14. A protective stop buy can be placed near  $19.20.

Suitability: Aggressive Bears.

TTD's special probability research of  stock's Prior Performance:

Probability - Earnings Response -  Average. Stock rose 7 times following the past 12 earnings reports where there was a significant change.

Probability:  Seasonal Activity -- Bearish.  UNT has declined an average of 2.4% in May. It has been flat in June and down a big 12.3% in July, historically its most bearish month.
