(The “breakout List” gives all stocks breaking out of a base of five weeks or more. These stocks have a good chance to trend higher. However, a stop should be used to avoid those that do not work.

  CARR, based in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., provides heating, ventilation and airconditioning products. Annual revenues: $17.5 billion. CARR's stock drives higher Monday and breaks out from its 12-week, cup-and-handle base.

   So far today, CARR is trading 7.7 million shares. Its average daily volume is 6.8 million shares.

   TTD sees potential for more on the upside. The stock is now at a new all-time high. That is bullish.

  TTD highlighted CARR as a breakout at our midsession video show on the Web Monday.

  CARR's stock moved higher in the morning and cleared its breakpoint line.

  It reached an intraday peak at $42.98 on that move.

  The stock then pulled back and trended mostly sideways the rest of the day.

  In after-hours trading, CARR was up 53 cents a share.

   Tape Action

  CARR's tape action shows the recent block trades.

  One can see the price for the blocks climbing from $41.09 in the morning to as high as $42.70 in the morning.

  A key bullish trade came at the opening when a block 157,673 shares (duplicated) crossed the tape at $42.21.

  That was up from the prior block in the previous session at $41.09 on a big 559,836 shares.

  Near the close a big block of 936,430 shares crossed at $42.34.

  That actually came on an up tick from the prior trade at $42.32 on 173 shares.

   Business

  CARR makes heating, ventilation, and air conditioning , refrigeration, fire and security products.

  It sells  to residential and commercial customers.

  Its commercial refrigeration equipment solutions preserve freshness of retail food and beverage.

Its fire and security products include a range of residential and building systems, including fire, flame, gas, smoke and carbon monoxide detection; fire suppression systems, intruder alarms; access control systems and video management systems.  

  Charts

   CARR's 12-month performance chart shows the stock up 155% versus a 50% gain for the stock market.

   Insider activity was not available.

   CARR's long-term chart shows the stock coming public in April of last year at $16. The stock has since been trending steadily higher.

  CARR's daily chart shows the stock peaking at $42 back in January.

  The stock pulled back and the past few months formed a perfect cup-and-handle base.

  The breakout comes with a gap move and modest pick up in volume.

  The stock's CCI momentum indicator is solidly bullish.

   Earnings Outlook

  This year, analysts forecast a 16% increase in net to $1.92 a share from the $1.66 the prior year.

  The stock has a price-earnings ratio of 21. TTD sees that as reasonable.

  Looking out to 2022, the Street predicts a 14% rise in net to $2.20 a share from the $1.92 the previous year.

  Net for the upcoming first quarter will be a modest 9% increase to 38 cents a share from the 35 cent the prior year.

  Then in the second quarter net should leap 45% to 48 cents a share from the 33 cents in the previous year.

Strategy Opinion:  TTD is targeting CARR for a move to 52 within the next few months, or sooner.

A protective stop can be placed near $39

   So far today, ORPH is trading 388,046 shares well above the average daily volume of 5,360 shares.

   TTD sees potential for more on the downside.

  ORPH's decline was triggered by a disappointing test results for its drug to treat debiltating muscel-wasting diseases.

ORPH's stock gapped lower in the morning and undercut its key technical support.

The stock touched an intraday low of $7.52. It then lifted later in the morning to cut its loss.

  TTD highlighted ORPH as a short at our midsession video show on the Web.

  ORPH's tape action shows the recent block trades.

  One can see the price for the blocks falling from $12.44 several sessions ago to as low as $7.75 Monday morning.

  A key bearish trade came in the morning when a block of 8,400 shares crossed at $8.11.

  That was down from a prior block on March 17 at $12.44 on 3,010 shares.

 ORPH is working on a Heat Shock Protein response to treatneurodegenerative orphan diseases.

 The company seeks to develop novel therapeutics for diseases caused by protein misfolding, protein aggregation, and lysosomal dysfunction. 

 Earnings:

  This year, analysts predict a loss of $2.32 a share compared with a loss of $3.42 the prior year.

  Looking out to 2022, the Street expects a loss of $2.96 a share.
