Timely Breakout Stocks From Tape Action

(The “breakout List” gives all stocks breaking out of a base of five weeks or more. These stocks have a good chance to trend higher. However, a stop should be used to avoid those that do not work.

  CABO, based in Phoenix, Az., provides of data, video and voice services. Annual revenues: $1.2 billion. CABO's stock drives higher Monday and breaks out from its 11-week, cup-and-handle base.

 So far today, CABO is trading 50,922 shares. Its average daily volume is 52,000 shares.

  The move carries the stock to a new all-time high. That is very bullish since there is no overhead resistance.

  TTD sees good potential for more on the upside.

  CABO's stock moved higher in the morning to clear its breakpoint line.

  The stock then trended sideways the rest of the day giving back a little in the final hour.

    Tape Action

  CABO's tape action shows the recent block trades.

  One can see the price for the blocks climbing from $1,814 in the prior session to as high as 1,900 .20 in the morning.

  A key bullish trade came in the morning when a block of 300 shares crossed the tape at $1,892.30.

  That was up sharply from the prior block in the previous session at $1,814 on 2,834 shares.

  A block of 5,072 shares crossed at $1,858.10 near the close.

  That was down from the prior block at $1,885 on 400 shares.

  However, in after-hours trading CABO was up 13.55.


  CABO provides residential video services, residential data services, residential voice services, business services and advertising.

  The company provided data, video and voice services in 21 Western, Midwestern and Southern states.

 CABO provides broadband services to residential and business customers in 40 cable systems covering some 400 cities.

 They are in Arizona, Idaho, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.


  CABO's 12-month performance chart shows the stock up 76% versus a 3% decline in the stock market.

  Insiders were recent buyers using stock options at $422 a share. They were sellers $1,700 a share.

  CABO's long-term  chart shows the stock coming public at $450 back in 2015. The stock rose to $788 by 2017.

  The stock then consolidated. It broke out in 2018 and has since soared to an all-time high at $1904.

  CABO's daily chart shows the stock a long-term, cup-and-handle basing pattern.

  The stock rallied back nicely from the stock market's sharp decline.

  The breakout clears key upside resistance and hits a new high.

  That is bullish.

  The stock's CCI momentum indicator is strongly bullish.

  Earnings Outlook

  This year, analysts predict a 20% increase in net to $40.16 a share from the $33.44 the prior year.

  The stock sells with a price-earnings ratio of 46. That is high given the earnings growth rate.

  Looking out to 2021, the Street expects a 12% rise in net to $45.03 a share from the anticipated $40.16 this year.

  Quarterly earnings should show an acceleration in growth. That is bullish.

  Net for the first quarter should rise 18% to $9.40 a share from the $7.96 the prior year.

  Then in the second quarter profits are expected to jump 56% to $9.92 a share from the $6.35 the previous year.  

Strategy Opinion:  TTD is targeting CABO for a move to 2,200 within the next few months, or sooner.

A protective stop can be placed near 1,700

  ERJ, based in Brazil, makes executive jets with 70 to 130 seats. Annual revenues: 10.4 million Brazilian Real. ERJ's stock falls sharply Monday as the company said it was having financial problems.

  So far today, ERJ is trading 14.2 million shares, five times its average daily volume of 2.6 million shares.

  TTD sees more on the downside.

  The current national shutdowns are impacting its business.


  ERJ's stock fell sharply in the morning and undercut key support. The stock touched an intraday low of $4.90.

  In the afternoon, the stock lifted but still stayed below its support line.

    Tape Action

  ERJ's tape action shows the recent block trades.

  One can see the price for the blocks falling from $5.82 in the prior session to as low as $5 in the morning.

  A key bearish trade came in the morning when a block of 140,272 shares (duplicated) crossed the tape at $5.

  That was down from the prior block at $5.82 on 82,279 shares.


  ERJ produces aircraft for commercial and executive aviation and for defense and security.

  The airline business is under pressure because the cut backs in travel and the cash crunch on many airlines.


  This year, analysts are forecasting ERJ will show a loss of $1.67 a share compared with a loss of $1.18 the prior year.

  Looking out to 2021, the Street predicts a loss of 74 cents a share.   


  ERJ's daily chart shows the stock declining from $20 back in January down to $6 by March.

  The stock tried to form a bottom , but now breaks down with a big pick up in volume. That is bearish.

  ERJ's 12-month performance chart shows the stock down 70% versus a 3% drop in the stock market.

Strategy Opinion: TTD  is targeting ERJ for a decline to $4.20. A protective stop buy can be placed near $5.90.
